SysML Made Simple with MagicGrid Framework

In this webinar, the MagicGrid framework for MBSE is presented. It comprises viewpoints that are grouped by five pillars (columns) and three domains (rows), and a simple recursive modeling method for the description of both System Architecture and Design. Aligned with technical processes of systems engineering (SE), described in ISO 15288, MagicGrid has already been approved by numerous companies that do MBSE. It is widely recognized as the starting point to define the scope of the MBSE initiative, a foundation to develop the company-wide methodology, and a framework to deploy the integrated MBSE environment.

After initial introduction a few years ago, MagicGrid has been constantly evolving with respect to the feedback from its users. All the updates, including the addition of the Safety & Reliability pillar, have been introduced in scientific and industrial publications and presented at multiple events, for example, INCOSE IS 2020.

This webinar is for those, who are looking forward to better understand the MBSE processes and how SysML along with MagicGrid fits into the SE life cycle. If you are new to MBSE, this webinar may be a jump-start for you to go forward. This webinar can also be helpful for those, who seek to evaluate the maturity of their current MBSE approach.

The main purpose of this webinar is to bust the myth that SysML is too difficult to learn and use. During the session, we will demonstrate that SysML is easy when applied in combination with a proper MBSE framework and requires no customizations to be successfully adopted.

Dr. Aurelijus Morkevičius

Aurelijus is an OMG® Certified UML, Systems Modeling, and BPM Professional. Currently he is a senior manager of industry business consultants for cyber systems engineering at Dassault Systèmes, CATIA brand.

He has expertise with enterprise, mission, model-based systems and software engineering (mostly based on UAF, SysML, and UML accordingly) and defense architectures (DoDAF, MODAF, NAF). Aurelijus is a co-chairman and the leading architect for the current OMG UAF (previously known as UPDM) standard development group. He represents the CATIA brand at INCOSE and NATO.

Aurelijus holds a Doctoral degree in Informatics Engineering from Kaunas University and Technology since 2013. He currently teaches an Enterprise Engineering course at the same university. Aurelijus is also an author of multiple articles, and a speaker at multiple conferences.

Dipl.-Ing. Aistė Aleksandravičienė

Aistė is an OMG® Certified Systems Modeling Professional (OCSMP). Currently she holds the position of industry business consultant for cyber systems engineering at Dassault Systèmes, CATIA brand.

Aistė takes responsibility for educating Dassault Systèmes clients on the three pillars of MBSE: language (SysML), method (MagicGrid), and tool (CATIA Magic software and integrations). While working with clients, such as Renault-Nissan, Leica Geosystems, Bombardier Transportation, and Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, she provides trainings, gives tool demonstrations, and participates in providing custom solutions. Aistė also works on training material and writes papers (alone and in collaboration with her colleagues) to spread the MBSE culture in the systems engineering community. She is a speaker at multiple MBSE conferences and other public events.

Aistė holds a Diplom-Ingenieur and Master’s degrees in Information Systems Engineering from Kaunas University of Technology (Lithuania).
